Kamila Carolyn Shenmen, Ph.D., L.Ac., Dipl.O.M.(NCCAOM), M.Th.






Kamila Shenmen understands healing at many levels. Originally trained as a scientist and researcher, Kamila has a doctorate in Molecular Biology and Computer Science. She worked for 20 years at the National Institutes of Health, where she received the high honor of an NIH director's award for her contributions to the Cancer Genome Anatomy Project.
During this time, Kamila became interested in alternative forms of healing, and enrolled at the Maryland Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, graduating in 1998 with an award for clinical excellence. She served for a period as a faculty member of MITCM and as Clinical Director, and was also a board member of the Maryland Acupuncture Society. Since moving to Tucson, Kamila also taught for a time at the Arizona School for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Kamila is a licensed acupuncturist and Chinese herbologist, and is nationally certified in Oriental Medicine.
Kamila is a graduate of the University of Spiritual Healing and Sufism, with a Master's Degree in Theology, majoring in Ministry and Sufi Studies. She currently teaches in the third year class of the university and in the Tucson Shadhdhiliyya Sufi community, as well as serving on the board of USHS. Kamila offers Spiritual Healing sessions in the Sufi tradition.
Other healing modalities that Kamila offers are Cupping (using her dual training in Oriental Medicine and Prophetic Medicine cupping techniques), as well as healing with Sacred Sound.
